Protecting Vulnerable Ecosystems
Dumpster Rentals Depot is a proud supporter of International and local eco-saving initiatives. In February 2021 Harry Cotton attended a session of the International Carpathian School “PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE ECOSYSTEMS IN A PANDEMIC AND CLIMATE CHANGE”. The event was organized and supported by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Faculty of Geography), National Ecological Center of Ukraine, Kosiv branch of the Shevchenko Scientific Society (Ivano-Frankivsk region), partner universities in the Baltic region and the Academic Mobility Office of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Dumpster Rentals Depot is a member of a volunteer organization Surfrider Foundation of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The organization has been doing monthly clean-ups of ocean and river shores and beaches at different locations.
In addition to waste removal and costal lines cleaning, Surfrider of Vancouver Island collects a valuable data that helps identifying the main types of pollution found on local Vancouver Island beaches. Along with gathering the waste on a beach, a certain amount is measured and recorded. This useful information helps in developing local environment protection campaigns and programs focused at pollution reduction.
Below are some figures obtained by a hardworking team of Surfrider Foundation volunteers, while holding beach cleanup work in 2021. The consistent beach cleanup campaigns conducted by 995 Surfrider Foundation members resulted in collection of 3,611 pound of trash and recyclables.
